Every car enthusiast’s dream is to own a luxury vehicle such as a Porsche, but due to the vehicles carrying large price tags, especially models like the Porsche 911, the dream can’t always become a reality.

But, fear not, as one man has the solution and has created a calculator that can help you out.

The clever tool assesses a variety of factors, including the year, model, trim, and vehicle price to help figure out what salary you’d need to sustain ownership.

It seems people are going the extra mile to source a 911 thanks to the impressive specs of the vehicle.

This gearhead got creative when accommodating affordability of Porsche ownership

It’s no secret that car fans dream of owning flashy cars with huge prices attached.

From 4x4s to sports cars, the opportunities are endless, but they carry huge costs.

So, to help others figure out if they could afford a car such as a Porsche 911, one man had a solution of a calculator.

Inventively named Reddit user, PoopSmoothies, shared the invention online.

The tool is aptly called ‘What Car Can I Afford’.

“It’s a hobby project for now, so let me know what you think! Any feature requests, bugs you find, general thoughts are all helpful,” stated the inventor.

And, gearheads had a lot to say about the handy tool.

“Well, f**k, I’m about to show this to the wife, I’ll take three please,” said one user.

“I’m making in the $600-650k range nowadays, and I still feel like I can’t even fathom paying something in the $170-low 200’s. Idk man I’m torn,” noted another.

“First calculator of its type I’ve seen. Where did you learn 10% of net worth is safe for cash car purchase? It rings true, but it’s not a familiar financial rule of thumb,” said a third.

The tool is a work in progress, but it contains three calculation categories that are color-coded.

These include a safe range, a stretch range and and a lender max, with other additional details also consisting of additional monthly costs.

The Porsche 911 is a popular choice

Luxury car brand Porsche offers some of the most sought-after vehicles in the car world.

From the Cayenne to the Macan, many powerful cars are on offer, but nothing quite beats the 911.

In fact, many fans of the model are prepared to go the extra mile to source one.

One man even decided to fly halfway across the US and take a gamble on a 500hp, V8 swapped Porsche 911 he bought sight unseen from Facebook.

Plus, if that wasn’t enough, then you can take a look at this 1966 Mustang that was dropped on a 2008 Porsche 911 chassis.
