This man made an unreal profit on his BMW 1 Series after buying it for just £550 ($742).
The car had major mechanical issues and plenty of cosmetic damage, but with careful planning and hands-on repairs, it became a smart budget flip.
Tackling a noisy differential, bodywork flaws, and a failing wheel bearing, the builder managed to restore the car on a tight budget.
In the end, the project delivered a very healthy profit on the BMW.

The used BMW 1 Series was sourced through Facebook Marketplace, listed as a spares-or-repairs project with a noisy differential and extensive cosmetic damage.
After negotiating the price down to £550, the buyer arranged a £250 recovery truck to transport the car safely.
The first major step of the budget car flip was diagnosing the loud differential whine.
Using a clever camera technique to confirm the part number, the buyer sourced a replacement for £170 and performed the BMW repairs at home.

The process of removing the differential was difficult due to corrosion, but with determination, the installation was completed and fresh diff oil was added.
With the main drivetrain issue resolved, cosmetic BMW repairs became the priority to improve the car’s value.
The car had rust spots, deep scratches, and previous poor paintwork attempts.
Areas were sanded, treated, and resprayed using budget-friendly methods.
After encountering initial setbacks with 1K lacquer, the flipper switched to a proper 2K lacquer for a much better finish.

These efforts ensured the BMW 1 Series looked significantly better for resale.
During final testing, a new wheel bearing issue arose.
Continuing the budget car flip, the flipper tackled the difficult removal of a seized bearing and successfully installed a replacement.
Further BMW repairs included fitting new front and kidney grilles for added cosmetic appeal.

With the mechanical and cosmetic work completed, the BMW 1 Series was ready for sale.
The car was listed on Facebook Marketplace and eBay with a detailed description, walkaround video, and numerous photos.
After two weeks, a buyer offered £2,100 ($2,833), which was accepted.
The total cost of the project was £1,340.76 ($1,809), resulting in a £759 ($1,025) profit on BMW.
This BMW 1 Series budget car flip is a great example of how smart BMW repairs and persistence can turn a rough car into a rewarding success.
