Man who spent six months living inside a cargo ship the size of four football fields reveals how he did it

A man who spent six months living on a cargo ship the size of four football fields has opened up about how he did it.

YouTuber Karanvir Singh Nayyar had secured himself a rather unorthodox home.

It’s not a location that many people get to see, so he took his subscribers on a tour.

His video covered everything from the crew cabins to the game rooms and the basketball courts.

What could you expect when living on a cargo ship?

On a ship the size of four football pitches, there’s a lot of ground to cover – literally and figuratively, as you can check out for yourself in the video below.

The accommodation in which the ship’s crew resides is spread across 10 decks.

On each deck, there was something new to take in.

For example, on the K deck, there was a recreational space with table tennis, football, and storage for barbecue equipment.

Over on the J deck, there was a library with books in multiple languages.

The E deck had a crew lounge containing a karaoke set, alongside an array of games – both board and digital.

Next door was a DVD collection, alongside a snack fridge.

His experience on the ship led him to reflect on how much had changed since he started living out at sea.

“In 2015, when I started sailing, all the crew used to sit around and watch movies, play games,” Karanvir said.

“But now, since the start of social media, everybody stays in their cabin. It gets lonelier than before.

“The crew camaraderie is dying down or fading a bit.”

That’s a real shame, especially when you see that this ship has a basketball court too.

Life out at sea comes in different forms

Plenty of people have taken to living out at sea, but there are so many ways you can go about finding your sea legs.

For one woman, her life on the water takes place on a variety of cruise ships.

Things look a lot differently for this couple who have been rebuilding an abandoned superyacht.
