Man spent 1000 hours converting military truck into this amazing RV

A man spent more than 1,000 hours turning a former military vehicle into this cool-looking, one-off RV – time very well spent, if you ask us. 

The unique – and downright mean-looking – RV began life as a 1991 M997 FLA Humvee that was used as a military ambulance. 

The Humvee was spotted up for sale on Facebook and was snapped up by Will Watson who runs the camper van conversion company Roaming Ventures. 

Over the next year, he and his dad completely overhauled the vehicle creating this beast of an RV.

The super-cool RV began life as a military ambulance

We’ve seen some really interesting RV conversions, such as the family-of-eight who decided to turn a double-decker bus into a traveling home. 

And let’s not forget the guy who turned Elvis Presley’s old private jet into one of the coolest RVs we’ve ever seen. 

Now, joining the ranks of off-the-wall motorhomes is this overlanding camper that looks perfect for a trip into the great outdoors.

After buying the Humvee, the first thing Roaming Ventures did was strip it all back and repaint it with a black Raptor Liner, that not only looks really smart but also helps to protect it. 

They then had to add some windows to the camper box part of the vehicle, given that the original didn’t have any in the back – and they added a couple of solar panels to the roof. 

The inside is just as spot-on as the outside

Inside, you’ll find a small but perfectly formed motorhome. 

A skylight stretches the length of the living space, which not only allows natural light to flood in but also adds a bit of additional height to the camper. 

Entering through the back of the RV, you’ll find a long couch that handily converts to a bed on the righthand side, with some handy storage space a TV at the headboard. 

Along the left side is the kitchen, which – although small – manages to pack in a butcher block countertop, a sink, a two-burner stove, and a small fridge/freezer. Impressive, right?

There’s even some additional space offered by a couple of overhead cabinets and drawers. 

Between the kitchen and the driver’s cabin is the small wet room, which comes complete with a shower, removable composting toilet, and sink. 

The walls of the bathroom are decked out in black tiles to match the sleek aesthetic of the RV.

The driver’s cabin has also been given a spruce up with leather seats, a brand-new dashboard and steering wheel, and an updated GPS speedometer. 

All in all, it’s a pretty epic conversion, isn’t it?
