This British guy has the most highly sought-after license plate in the world – it cost him $585K, and he thinks it’s the best investment he’s ever made, but it’s not the only customized plate he owns; he’s got 60 more.
The Formula One superfan and businessman Afzal Khan has a collection of spectacular supercars, but the pièce de résistance is actually not even a supercar at all, it’s a license plate.
Khan bought his ‘F1’ license plate in 2008 for $585K, and it’s steadily become the most sought-after piece of car memorabilia over time, fending off offers of $6 million to purchase it.
It doesn’t look like any amount of money will be enough to get Afzal Khan to part with his beloved ‘F1’ license plate, because he sees it as the best investment he’s ever made.

Turns out that the most desirable piece of supercar memorabilia isn’t even a luxury supercar. It’s actually a piece of metal, and the owner has been offered upwards millions of dollars for it.
Businessman and Formula One superfan Afzal Khan purchased a license plate in 2008. And it came with the simple two characters: F and 1.
Back then, he paid $585K for it. But as the years have gone on, Khan has had to fend off increasingly desperate offers to buy the plate. Some of the bids have been over $6 million.
The license plate initially resided on a Volvo S80 and was then transferred onto a Mercedes SLR McLaren. It’s currently living on a gorgeous black Bugatti Veyron.
This isn’t Afzal’s only customized license plate, though.
Believe it or not, he’s got 60 others, including one bearing his nickname ‘Afzi’ and even the acronym ‘CTC’, but none of these are worth anything close to his F1 plate.
He’s not parting with it anytime soon, though. Because, as he said in an Instagram post about it, it’s ‘the best investment [he] ever made!’
