Man spots mysterious button on his Ram truck and has to ask if anyone knows what it does

The owner of a Ram truck said in a TikTok video that he had found a mysterious button, and took to the platform to ask if anyone knew what the button in the pickup truck was.
Ram truck driver tofu_drifter was looking through his Ram 1500 before he found a button on the inotainment system.
Normally, buttons might not come as a surprise; however, this one definitely did, as the owner had no idea what it was for.
The video has had over 11,000 views at the time of writing, and it’s safe to say it left them very confused.

What is the purpose of the button in the Ram truck?
The button in the pickup is located below the center of the infotainment system.
Labeling sits above the button, with two directional arrows pointing left and right.
The button also has a trailer graphic printed onto it.
In his video, tofu_drifter said of the button:
“It’s really strange to me.”
There were plenty of people who commented on the video; some were less than helpful.
But others did tell the TikTok user what it was for.
The button aids you when backing up with a trailer attached by turning the steering wheel and aligning the pickup truck with the trailer behind you.
How does the system work?
The full title for the feature is Trailer Reverse Steering Control (TRSC).
Turning the knob allows for more accurate control when backing up.
All the driver has to do is control the throttle and brake.
Behind the pickup, the trailer steers according to which way the knob is turned.
It then centers automatically when the knob is in the center position.
The feature can also be used if you are hooking up to a trailer.
This is, without doubt, a handy feature, as backing up with a trailer can sometimes be slightly intimidating and stressful.

In particular, the steering direction, which usually requires opposite input, can be tricky to master.
And it’s this trickiness that the TRSC system aims to eradicate.
