A man from England took his dead Land Rover Discovery 3 to WeBuyAnyCar, hoping to hide some of its worst problems and get a higher price for the SUV.

YouTuber Chris from Final Drive wanted to offload the Land Rover as it had caused him plenty of problems trying to get it back on the road.

The car had been bought on Facebook Marketplace for just £500 ($667) due to a transmission fault, and Chris hoped he could fix it up easily.

But with it costing more money than hoped and still not performing great, he decided that enough was enough.

What was wrong with the Land Rover Discovery 3?

The SUV was so cheap because it had a serious transmission issue.

However, Chris believed he could fix it simply by flushing the fluids inside it.

But even though that did help matters, it soon became apparent that the SUV was not fully fixed.

Chris and his friends also stripped the transmission down and re-flushed the fluids, but to no avail.

The latest video saw Chris attempt to diagnose the problem further and check the solenoid valves.

That didn’t solve the problem, and in fact, it made no difference at all.

So, that meant Chris took it to WeBuyAnyCar to get rid of the troublesome Land Rover.

Taking the SUV to WeBuyAnyCar

Having taken it to WeBuyAnyCar, Chris was hoping to get more money back than he had paid for it.

That led to the moral dilemma of how much he told the dealer about the Land Rover before getting his appraisal.

The online valuation for the car came in at £1,360 ($1,816).

However, after the in-person appraisal, it came in at just £372 ($496)!

Take away the £50 admin fee, and the valuation Chris got was just £322, which is roughly $429.

Naturally, that probably wasn’t what Chris was hoping to hear, because of the money he had spent on the Discovery.

That offer of $429 was without the dealer knowing the full extent of the transmission’s faults, so who knows what they’d have offered had they known the truth.

With that in mind, the car does go back home with Chris.

He does have a few plans for it, including a new transmission!
