Entrepreneur Sabri Suby walked into a Rolex boutique with a fake Rolex.

He wasn’t there to buy – he was there to see if anyone would notice his counterfeit.

The watch was posing as a $150,000 piece.

Would the staff be able to sniff it out?

So did the fake Rolex get sprung?

Suby set the whole thing up as a social experiment.

A hidden camera, a counterfeit watch, and a trip to an official Rolex boutique.

The idea was simple: walk in, act like a buyer, and see if the staff could spot that the watch on his cameraman’s wrist wasn’t the real deal.

The salesman asked what Suby was looking for, so he pointed to the fake on his cameraman’s wrist and said he wanted the same one.

The salesman didn’t flinch, didn’t call it out, didn’t even hint that anything’s off.

Instead, he pivoted, writing Suby’s name on a ‘private wait list.’

Then the test heated up.

The salesman offered to clean both watches, the genuine and the counterfeit.

Off they go, behind the counter.

When they returned, both were sparkling… and the fake had slipped through undetected.

No alarm, no side-eye, no confrontation.

Viewers flooded the comments with theories.

One explained the salesman’s dilemma: “Tell the truth, invite drama. Stay quiet, move on with his day.”

Another said they’d worked at a Rolex boutique and were flat-out trained never to confirm if a watch is fake.

The official line was allegedly: “We don’t have a watchmaker on site, so we can’t authenticate.”

How to tell if your Rolex is the real deal

Spotting a counterfeit is all about the details

Real Rolex models carry serial and case numbers engraved with laser precision.

The fonts on the dial are razor-sharp – never smudged or misaligned.

The famous Cyclops date magnifier should pop 2.5 times bigger, not sit flat.

Modern pieces also hide a micro-etched crown on the crystal at 6 o’clock, visible only under the right light.

The feel matters too.

Genuine Rolex watches are built from heavy-duty 904L steel and precious metals, giving them weight.

Casebacks should be solid – transparent backs and random engravings scream fake.

So yes, Rolex boutiques might stay silent when fakes come through the door.

But the truth is, a fake Rolex might shine for a minute, but the details always rat it out.
