Wheel of Fortune may well be the the biggest game show in America, but one man who won a BMW car after a lucky spin ended up regretting his prize.

Game shows offer tantalizing prizes, including cars, vacations, or pots of cash.

But this man, going by wheelmasterdave on Reddit, seemed to regret ever appearing on the show after he had won.

This is what happened to the BMW winner on Wheel of Fortune

Reddit user wheelmasterdave explained why it wasn’t as it seemed on the show.

He was able to take victory on Wheel of Fortune and win a brand-new BMW.

With a retail price of $41,165, it looked like he had done very well for himself.

But alarm bells were ringing when he had to write a $4,000 check to the dealership before he could take delivery.

Incredibly, this was just one reason why the experience was soured.

He revealed that he had to pay the income tax on the value of the prize car.

That was on top of the $4,000 dealership sales tax and license fees.

This is exactly what you have to do if you have bought the car yourself.

What did the winner do with his new car?

Having found out all of this, wheelmasterdave no longer wanted the car.

In the end, he went back to the furnishing dealership in LA to try to sell it back to them.

Despite barely driving the car, and its original value, they only offered him around $26,000 for the BMW.

Unsurprisingly, this left him incredibly upset and frustrated by his Wheel of Fortune experience.

He was able to sell it to another dealership for $32,000 and get some of its value back.

In the end, with the various taxes and depreciation of the BMW, the car was worth around $16,000 in total.

“Cash is always king when it comes to game show prizes,” said the Reddit user and game show winner.

He is far from the only one who has had such an experience, as seen on Let’s Make A Deal.

With such a stressful and disparaging experience, it’s no wonder it left him in a spin.
