Fans of the Cadillac Escalade V have been told for a long while that the SUV is ‘uninsurable’ in the country, but one man finally got a quote, and it almost left him speechless.
Instagram user hl3cars says he has the only Cadillac Escalade V in the UK and has been trying for some time to get it insured.
He said that he’s had nearly every insurance company tell him that the car is uninsurable, but he was eventually able to get a quote for the giant SUV.
But after he got it, the man nearly didn’t know what to say.

This is how much the quote for the Cadillac Escalade V was
The Cadillac Escalade V is not a small car, which is why it’s proven so hard for the owner to get it insured in the UK.
The UK typically has smaller vehicles than in the United States, not to mention the roads they drive on, so companies were disinclined to even attempt to insure such a massive personal vehicle.
But hl3cars didn’t stop, even after his ‘backstreet’ guy said he had no chance getting insurance for it.
Unfortunately for him, he had no choice but to keep going, having already bought and imported the SUV.
Finally, however, he was able to get a quote.

After ringing up and spending 45 minutes waiting, the quote came in at a whopping £32,412 for the year.
At the time of writing, that’s roughly $43,614.
You could buy a whole car for that price, and it would probably cost less to insure, too.
What the man will do next with his Cadillac SUV
This left hl3cars in a bit of a tricky situation.
Not only had he already bought the SUV, but it was also already in the UK.
Now he has a giant Cadillac he can’t legally drive, and a monumental insurance quote.
That has led to a bit of an appeal.
He asked his Instagram viewers, 65,000 of whom liked his video, for some help.
He wanted tips and advice as to how to proceed now that he had this incredible quote.
It doesn’t appear that selling the car is an option that he wants to take.
So he will likely have to try to get the insurance as low as he can, if that’s even possible.
What he does next will be fascinating to watch.
