Mat Armstrong spent $420K rebuilding Marcus Rashford's wrecked Rolls-Royce Wraith and the England footballer had the best possible response

After spending $420k rebuilding Marcus Rashford’s wrecked Rolls-Royce Wraith, Mat Armstrong was surprised by the England footballer’s response.

Along the way, Armstrong has encountered more bumps than a lumpy soccer pitch.

As is often the way with these extensive car rebuilds.

But it was a response from Rashford himself that proved to be the biggest surprise.

Mat Armstrong is no stranger to a challenge, and that’s exactly what he got with Marcus Rashford’s wrecked Rolls-Royce Wraith

How did this story all begin?

A few years ago, Rashford splashed his cash on a Rolls-Royce Wraith.

Ultimately he ended up totaling it, which landed it in Mat Armstrong’s hands.

Not that the crash put the soccer star off buying another Rolls-Royce, as his $800,000 Wraith purchase proved.

To get the car back up to scratch, Armstrong sourced replacement parts from Tavarish’s project car.

As Armstrong produced more videos about the project, it eventually worked its way to Rashford.

His team reached out, but this wasn’t a case of cease and desist.

Instead, they offered up several spare parts – including a key, tracker info, and other items.

Rashford’s team also provided Mansory accessories like a grille, mats, and a car cover, which made the rebuild smoother for Armstrong and helped him to bring the car back to its glory days.

To show his appreciation, Armstrong decided he’d sell tickets to fans vying to win a signed piece of the car.

Proceeds from that would go towards FareShare, a food charity that Rashford supports.

Based in Rashford’s home city of Manchester, it’s the UK’s largest network of charitable food redistributors, providing food for homeless shelters, school breakfast clubs, and community cafes.

Armstrong is constantly wrangling with big car restorations

If there’s a man suited for the big task of fixing up a wrecked car, it’s Mat Armstrong.

Whether it’s a Mercedes AMH GT63S or a Ferrari 296GTB, the YouTuber is ready to fully commit to any car that comes his way.

Perhaps no rebuild has given him as much headache as the Bugatti Veyron, which is panning out to be story longer than War and Peace.

Soccer players are drawn to fancy cars like moths to a flame

When you have millions of dollars at your disposal, supercars almost follow inevitably.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a prime example of this, having become a billionaire in recent years.

Even soccer players that can’t drive – Kylian Mbappé – are adding cars to their collection.

But it doesn’t always pan out for the best, as Peter Crouch found out the hard way.
