The hosts of the Cars & Money podcast asked Mat Armstrong the question most frequently put to car YouTubers.
The question was: money no object, pick a three-car garage.
As always, the choice is final: pick three cars and you can only drive those three for the rest of your life.
Armstrong’s picks were interesting, but his collection has changed so much since the recording that we’re sure his answer wouldn’t be the same today.
First came a digression
When Rob Moore and Carl Hartley from the Cars & Money YouTube channel asked him the question, Mat Armstrong started with an interesting digression.
The first thing Mat said was that he could only pick cars he’s actually driven, which is a good point.
“I can only talk on the experience. I really like Rolls-Royce Cullinan because it does what it says it does. It’s a luxury SUV. I have a G-Wagen, for example, and that’s an ‘in-between’ because is it a luxury car? Is it a performance car?” he said.

“The Cullinan does it for me. And even the way it looks. It looks like a London taxi but, like, on steroids,” he added with an analogy that’s actually quite apt.
After the addition of the Cullinan, and the digression, came the answer.
These are three cars Mat Armstrong couldn’t live without
After the Cullinan – a comfortable and spacious vehicle – came a car that is neither spacious nor comfortable.
“I can’t not put the manual Murciélago in there. Because you’ve got to have the feeling of a manual shifter. And then the way you sit, [the way] you’ve got to make sure you’ve got the right shoes [to avoid accidentally pressing the clutch] – And that’s what Lamborghini is for me,” Mat Armstrong said.

He then made a juicy comment that slightly contradicted his earlier rule.
First, he said ideally he could only pick cars he’d actually driven, but then he said he’d like to include a hypercar he hasn’t driven in the three-car garage.
Initially, Armstrong said he couldn’t add the Bugatti to the list because he hadn’t driven it yet and instead hinted at including a Pagani.

But the video was filmed weeks ago, when the Chiron was little more than a nice ornament.
Well, it isn’t anymore.
After rebuilding radiators and the crash bar, the Bugatti is now a drivable vehicle.
So there you go, we’ve fixed the list for Mat: Cullinan, Murciélago, and his Chiron.
