This Mazda 323 has been driven an astonishing 2,000,000km (1.2 million miles) and this is how it’s holding up.
One look at this car would confirm that it had been well used over the past few years.
There was some wear and tear, and a few handmade repairs in parts.
But looks aren’t everything – how was this 1991 Mazda 323 handling out on the road?

What sort of condition was this Mazda 323 in?
As you might expect, a car of this age and this mileage is showing signs of wear and tear.
But despite those factors, the engine is still running, although it’s clearly been patched up and maintained in some rough conditions.

It says a lot about the car’s owner that this Mazda is still out on the road, albeit with a rather degraded looking steering wheel.
We have no doubt that this driver will have been keeping a close eye on the car over the years, making amendments where necessary.
It’s definitely a story of loyalty and ingenuity.
But would the rest of the internet feel that way?

What did people make of this 2,000,000km car?
Over on Reddit, users were stunned that this car was still holding out.
“Any car will keep going if you replace enough parts on it,” one person wrote.
“That’s some kid-friendly Mad Max s**t going on,” another joked.
“Seeing this 323 in such pitiful shape but still going strong makes me feel better about owning a ’91 Capri,” a third remarked.

We’ve seen cars with millions on their clocks before.
Did you know that two out of the top three with the highest mileage are Volvos?
The top spot is held by Irving Gordon, who set a world record for the highest mileage by a single owner in a non-commercial vehicle.
Another high-ranking car was the 1976 Mercedes 240D, with two million miles on the clock from years as a taxi.
How exactly this 1991 Mazda 323 racked up so many miles isn’t entirely clear.
