Mazda has unveiled its new all-electric EZ-60 SUV that could be serious competition for the Tesla Model Y.
The Japanese automaker has teased the first look images of the upcoming model and it looks pretty slick.
In a short video shared online, Mazda shared an outline of the future EZ-60 model, while revealing that it would be released for the 2025 model year.
And by the looks of it, the Tesla Model Y could be set for some competition.

The upcoming EZ-60 looks like the Mazda Arata concept
Mazda is one of the many car manufacturers that are boosting their EV offerings in response to changes in the automotive industry.
This week, the marque unveiled the first-look at its EZ-60 all-electric SUV that is slated to go into production this year.

The EV appears to be the production version of the Mazda Arata concept car that was unveiled last year but will be known as the EZ-60 when it goes on sale in China.
Sharing a first look at the upcoming EV, Mazda posted a short clip on the Weibo social media platform.
In the clip, the Mazda EZ-60 can be seen side-on – with a profile that looks almost identical to the Arata – while a digital representation of wind whips past it.
The car itself has a long teardrop-shaped rear section – that will no doubt help cut drag and boost its aerodynamics.
The car could be strong competition for the Model Y
Given its shape and size, the EZ-60 could be a strong competitor to the Tesla Model Y when it goes on sale.
It will also go up against several Chinese-made EVs such as the Kia EV5 and the BYD Sealion 7.
As yet, Mazda hasn’t released any specifics about the car’s drivetrain – but it has been suggested it will ride on the Changan’s EPA1 platform and more than likely share some similarities with the Deepal S7.

Similarly, details on its range and horsepower are also being kept strictly under wraps for the time being.
And, although we’ve had a glimpse at the exteriors, we’ll have to wait until we get our first proper look at a production-ready EZ-60 before we find out what its interiors will look like.
For now, the SUV appears to only be coming to the Chinese market, but it’s thought it could be given a rename and launched in Europe as well as Australia.
