This man wanted to restore his grandfather’s 1996 F-150, but a Kansas mechanic wouldn’t touch the transmission.

YouTuber/mechanic Car Wizard was the guy who the truck was brought to.

There were some issues to take care of, which Car Wizard gladly looked at.

But there was one thing he refused to go near.

This Ford F-150 needed some TLC

When it comes to bringing cars back to their former glory, mechanics really are life savers.

We’ve seen some African mechanics restore a 1992 Corolla GT with barely any tools, whilst another young mechanic fixed a Mazda RX-8 that nobody else wanted to touch.

Car Wizard himself has taken on some unusual fixes before in his time.

He once fixed a 2002 Mercedes E320 that had fallen victim to spilled coffee.

As for a 2013 Toyota Avalon, he fixed that with a $10 part.

The latest car to end up in his garage was a 1996 Ford F-150, which had belonged to the owner’s grandfather.

The owner wanted to restore its former glory, regardless of the cost.

Besides some rust and fading paint, the truck still looks pretty good after all these years.

Even the inside is still looking pretty good, with relatively little in the way of wear and tear on the seating.

But there were problems that needed to be addressed.

A lot of parts needed replacing – the water pump, plug wires, the torque converter, and more.

But there was one thing that he wouldn’t go near, and that was the transmission.

Why did the Car Wizard not want to work his magic on the transmission?

The issue with the transmission is that it has what’s called a ‘shudder’.

This is essentially a vibration or shaking sensation that occurs whilst the car is being driven.

It’s an annoying problem for anyone in the car, but the Car Wizard declined to tinker around with it.

Why?

It’d recently been replaced by another mechanic and was still under warranty.

The Car Wizard explained: “I’m not touching it.

“If we start tampering with it, then the warranty could be fully voided.

“So when the customer does take it back to the company, they could say ‘Someone’s been in here! You’ve just lost your warranty, buddy’.

“And then you have a very, very angry customer.”

The Car Wizard told the customer to take the F-150 back to where he’d got the replacement transmission.
