This mechanic blows people’s minds online with hacks, and this time it’s all thanks to the ingenious use of the plastic lid on a jug of antifreeze and coolant.

Sometimes bottles of chemicals and fluids that are used in engines and chassis can be almost indestructible, with people struggling to pry the lids open.

But, days of getting your hands dirty are about to come to an end as this clever mechanic shared a trick that you wish you’d have known sooner.

All it involves is a plastic lid, a sealed tab, and a little bit of patience.

This mechanic blows people’s minds and it’s all to do with a lid on antifreeze and coolant

We’ve all been there when it comes to not being able to open a jug of antifreeze and coolant.

The product is often sealed tightly to stop children getting into the chemicals that help to keep cars ticking over.

But, there’s actually a handy hack when it comes to getting the pesky tab open, which can save drivers heaps of time and effort.

TikTok user and mechanic Burke’s Auto Repair shared how the orange cap on the bottle often hides a cover that is sealed, but the orange lid actually has a purpose other than keeping the liquid in the bottle.

The lid can also be used to poke a hole in the sealed tab of the bottle and then used to open the bottle by allowing the tab to come away.

The mechanic blows people’s minds online, all thanks to the simple trick, which will no doubt help everyone at some point during car ownership.

Plus, it requires no use of sharp tools or getting your hands dirty either – a win-win scenario, you have to admit.

Other drivers simply couldn’t believe the use of the plastic lid

After sharing his trick online with the world, many gearheads couldn’t believe that they’d missed such a simple hack for many years.

“Hang on! I’ve been slamming my pointer finger into that seal and nearly breaking it for the last 30 years for nothing,” said one driver.

“I am so angry at how stupid you just made me feel. I’m not even sure I know how to breathe or human right anymore,” said another gearhead.

“Oh, so you don’t try to jab your thumb in and jam it every time? man out here doing God’s work. Thank you,” said a third person.

Surprisingly, though, the TikTok user isn’t the only mechanic to try and help other drivers online recently.

In fact, one mechanic in Georgia shared one thing that you should never buy from a car parts store, and i’s not quite what you’d expect.

Plus, we can’t forget the time that one savvy mechanic said that the most reliable car in the world is a 20-year-old and unglamorous model.

For now, though, check out the plastic lid hack below.
