This mechanic was asked to take a look at a Toyota with one huge issue, all to do with giving the car power – and it was all about the fuel door.

It was reported to be faulty, which, for any driver, is less than ideal.

Luckily, one mechanic managed to have a look at the faulty car part for the worried owner.

His whole diagnostic test, though, lasted just seconds thanks to a surprising turn of events.

This Toyota was shipped off to a mechanic with a sorry surprise

The humble Toyota is a car favored by many drivers thanks to its reliability and reasonable price.

However, one 2008 Toyota car was shipped off for a mechanic to take a look at it after it wasn’t performing quite as well as it should have been

The issue? A faulty fuel door, according to the report placed before his eyes, and according to the owner.

Let’s face it, one of the most vital parts of a car is fuel and making it run, so not being able to open the faulty fuel door was a huge inconvenience.

After receiving the car, the mechanic shared the diagnosis on social media, and it’s safe to say it caused quite a reaction from other car enthusiasts.

Taking to Reddit, user AyYoEugene said it was the ‘Hardest Diagnosis of My Career,’ as he got to work.

But it turns out that the fix was more straightforward than you’d initially think.

The faulty fuel cap took 13 seconds to fix

After investigating, the mechanic found that the faulty fuel cap actually wasn’t faulty at all.

The solution was simply lifting a lever on the car floor to open the fuel door – something which the owner quite obviously hadn’t discovered on their own.

After sharing the fix, other car fans couldn’t help but comment on the fuel door working perfectly fine.

“To be fair, that is one of the dumbest places I’ve seen a fuel door latch go,” said one user.

“Customer states: my car moves when I hit the gas pedal in drive,” joked another.

“People need to learn to do ONE Google search before going to the mechanic,” commented a third.

It seems that the issue didn’t actually need the eyes of a mechanic after all, but hey, it’s always good to get a second opinion, we suppose.
