Mercedes-AMG unveils 646HP V8 beast with the CLE 646 and only 30 of them will be made

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CLE 646, with a 646-horsepower V8 as its beating heart.
To be precise, this is the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, which is a bit of a mouthful.
While its official name may be long, the list of its owners won’t be.
That’s because only 30 of these cars will ever be made.
The CLE 646 is a bit of a throwback for Mercedes-AMG
Cast your mind back to 2022, and you’ll recall the debut of the C63 S, with its 680hp engine.
Well, it’s back…sort of.
The CLE 646 is to be the second model of the Mythos range, which is marketed towards collectors.
Following in the tire marks of the PureSpeed, of which 250 were made, the 646 is a powerful beast.
Its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 pumps 646hp through to the rear wheels.
Admittedly, not being a four wheel driver doesn’t limit its off-the-line speed.
It can reach 62mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 193mph.
While prices haven’t been confirmed yet, we need only look at the predecessor in the Mythos line to know that we should expect a hefty price tag.
Admittedly, it’s not like it’s of any use for the rest of us to know the price.
All of the cars have already been snatched up.
With only 30 units expected to be produced, it’s no wonder that Spezialanfertigung translates to ‘custom-made’ in English.
What has Mercedes said about this car?
“This vehicle came about because a group of very rational engineers dreamt of a very irrational car,” Stefan Weckbach, the Chairman of the Mercedes-AMG Management Board, said.
“We turned that dream into reality – in the form of maximum driving dynamics and an unparalleled driving experience.”
From its extensive carbon fiber to its bold proportions, there’s no denying that this is a car all about going big.
You can see that even with the interior, where the back seats have been banished into obscurity.
Instead, we’ve got a cage, two-seats and roll cage.
This is a car for people who want to visualize themselves letting rip out on a racetrack.
