Mercedes driver goes three years without an oil change and tells the mechanic not to yell at her

A Mercedes driver went three years without an oil change, and in a TikTok video, she told the mechanic not to yell at her.
TikTok user and content creator marticookss posted the video on her account, showing her in her Mercedes-Benz driving in for an oil change.
Having not had one for such a long time, she sheepishly approached a waiting representative, hoping that she wouldn’t get shouted at.
As always with TikTok, plenty of people commented in response, and a small handful offered helpful advice to Marti.

The Mercedes had not had an oil change in three years
On-screen in the video, Marti wrote:
“POV: You’re just a girl who needs an oil change, maybe?”
That revealed her uneasiness about the situation, and that she wasn’t sure if the car did need the oil changed.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, she went up to a technician and spoke to him.
“I’m a little embarrassed to say I’ve never had an oil change in this car, and I’ve had it for like three years.
But the light’s never turned on, so I didn’t know, but I feel like I should probably get one,” Marti said.
The technician responded and said he’d get someone else to talk to the Mercedes driver, as he was ‘just a little bit newer.’
“That’s fine, just tell him not to yell at me,” Marti replied.
How often should you change the oil in a car?
Some people in the comments section weren’t very helpful.
Some, though, did offer good advice to Marti, so she didn’t go through the same situation again.
“You need an oil change every 3,000-10,000 miles. Oil change and filter.
Generally, it is recommended every 5,000 miles,” one commenter offered.
Marti said the oil light on the dashboard had never come on.
This only comes on if the car is lacking oil.
It doesn’t come on if the oil has been in the car for a long time.

Mercedes, like Honda, says around 10,000 miles for an oil change.
Or, if you have a slightly older car, around 5,000 to 7,000 miles.
But certainly, don’t wait three years before changing the oil in any car.
