Mercedes-Benz just released what must be the ad of the year, starring a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Prototype, Brad Pitt, and a very special F1 valet in Las Vegas.
Set in Sin City, the ad combines excitement with underlying subtle humor.
And it’s all done in a 100-second ad with very little dialogue involved.
Brilliant stuff, especially when you realize who the valet is.

Why the ad is so brilliant
Brad Pitt utters a grand total of 12 words in the entire 106-second ad.
He doesn’t need to speak, though.
His facial expression says it all.

The idea behind the ad is that Brad Pitt is leaving what definitely looks like the Caesar’s Palace and is waiting for his Mercedes-AMG GT at the valet station.
“Big fan,” the valet says in the clip.
And when Pitt says ‘thanks’, the valet corrects him with a sardonic tone, ‘…of the car’.

The other brilliant touch is that the valet is actually Mercedes-AMG driver George Russell.
He takes his sweet time bringing the car around and, more importantly, he doesn’t exactly drive it to the entrance.
He drifts it there.
Why the future of Formula 1 might look different
Formula 1 became American in 2017, when Liberty Media Corporation, a US media company, acquired full commercial control of it.
And you can tell.
Because back in 2017, the US had one GP in the calendar – the one in Texas – whereas now they have three.
In addition to the Circuit of Americas GP in Austin, you’ve got the Miami GP and the Las Vegas GP.
And there are rumors about a potential New York GP as well.

Maybe it’s because everything looks better against the backdrop of Las Vegas at night, or maybe it’s because Vegas is relatively close to Los Angeles (and therefore Hollywood), but the Vegas GP is rapidly becoming a celebrity magnet.
Obviously you can spot celebrities at both the Miami GP and the Texas one, but for some reason F1 is heavily banking on Vegas.

And it’s perhaps not a coincidence that this ad was filmed there and released right after the Vegas GP weekend.
And there’s one more thing that makes the Vegas GP unique.
This is the only Grand Prix that’s owned by F1 itself.
