Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff explains why he eats the exact same meal every single day

Mercedes Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff has revealed why he eats exactly the same meals every day.

When you think of Formula 1 bosses, a life of luxury and supercars means that strict meal plans probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind.

The Austrian billionaire travels to 24 races each season and spends more than 500 hours in the air every year.

Why Toto Wolff eats the exact same meal every day

Mercedes’ Toto Wolff says consistency is one of the key reasons he’s able to cope with the relentless demands of running one of the sport’s most successful teams.

Speaking about his routine to Forbes, Wolff explained that frequent travel means he needs to stay disciplined with his sleep, nutrition, and daily habits.

“I’m traveling to 24 races a year with more than 500 hours of flying so I need to stay disciplined in terms of sleep, nutrition and my life pattern,” he said.

Because of that, he sticks to the same foods wherever he is in the world.

For breakfast, that means two slices of heavily toasted pumpernickel bread topped with butter, a slice of ham, and tomato, he washes it down with a cappuccino and sparkling water.

The goal is simple: avoid upsetting his system and eliminate unnecessary decisions from his day.

Why the Mercedes boss believes routine creates success

Wolff’s dedication to routine extends well beyond what’s on his plate.

The Mercedes chief has built a reputation for being intensely focused, highly disciplined, and obsessed with precision, qualities that have helped transform the team into one of Formula 1’s most dominant forces.

According to Wolff, Mercedes’ success over the past decade has been built on culture rather than individual brilliance.

He says the team operates with a philosophy of brutal honesty while also ensuring employees feel safe enough to speak up when something isn’t working.

“I think what made us successful and sustainably successful over the last 10 years was our culture and our values,” Wolff explained.

“We are brutally honest with each other whilst having created a safe environment where you can speak up, where you can point to inefficiencies and improve.”

It’s an approach that mirrors his attitude toward nutrition and daily habits.

By keeping things simple, predictable, and consistent, Wolff believes he can focus his energy on the decisions that matter most, whether that’s leading Mercedes on race weekends or planning for the future of Formula 1.
