Mercedes is keeping gas-powered AMG super sedans alive in Australia

There’s a new Mercedes-AMG C 43 model in town, as long as the town in question is in Australia.

The newest AMG model, coming in with 400+ horsepower and an incredibly sophisticated track mode, is only available Down Under.

That’s the bad news – unless you’re in Australia, that is.

But the good news is juicy.

How the Mercedes-AMG is keeping the gas dream alive

There’s an emerging trend that people are noticing.

The CLA, unveiled not long ago, is available as a hybrid and as an electric car but, and this isn’t an insignificant ‘but’, the AMG model is only electric.

Then the most powerful non-AMG C-Class was just unveiled, and there are rumors about a potential all-electric AMG equivalent for that model.

We don’t know whether that was a one-off or the start of something, but it doesn’t really matter yet, because this new C 43 4MATIC Edition R+ isn’t electric.

Fast and fun, but only in Australia

Reserved for the Land Down Under, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Edition R+ is fitted with the AMG Styling Package – first time for the C43 – with high-gloss aerodynamic accents.

At the front, there’s a new AMG front apron with a high-gloss black front splitter and flics
around the air inlets.

Meanwhile, at the rear, the C 43 features an AMG spoiler lip – also finished in high-gloss black – a rear apron, and a black diffuser.

Inside, you’ll find an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather, which, among other things, you can use to select the AMG Dynamic Plus mode.

It also includes the AMG TRACK PACE mode, which includes 80 car-specific data points in case you want to take the car around the track.

And you might want to, because this super sedan uses a 2.0-liter engine with 415 horsepower and 500Nm of torque, paired with an automatic 9-speed transmission.

The bad news is this is only available in Australia, with an MRLP (the equivalent of an MSRP) of $121,200 before taxes and various road costs.
