Mercedes has built the most powerful non-AMG C-Class ever with the ability to recharge 325 kilometers of battery in just 10 minutes and America is getting it first

The transition from internal combustion to a fully electrified line-up is underway with the newest electric Mercedes C-Class.

This is the second-most powerful C-Class in the line-up, and the most powerful non-AMG model.

It is also the most advanced.

Partly because of the record-breaking charging system.

Record-breaking charging capabilities and an enormous amount of power

From a technical standpoint, the new C-Class features a long list of industry firsts.

The first thing that stands out is the two-speed transmission, unusual for an electric car, designed to balance off-the-line acceleration and efficiency.

Then there’s a new type of air suspension, which Mercedes calls AIRMATIC.

It features predictive damping, which means the suspension predicts what’s going to happen in the next split second and acts accordingly.

The motor puts out 480hp, making it the second-most powerful C-Class this side of the 63, which is, of course, an AMG model.

We’re seeing a trend with this, by the way.

Just like with the CLA, Mercedes seems determined to keep both gas and electric options for every model, but the electric variant will often be the most powerful.

Range-wise, we’re looking at 473 miles (762km) and, more importantly, the ability to charge from 0 to 201mph in just 10 minutes.

The new Mercedes C-Class tech sanctuary

Like most modern cars, the C-Class is defined by its tech.

The front grille looks alive because it’s digital and it features 1,050 illuminated dots, and the same idea was used for the SKY CONTROL panoramic roof, containing 162 illuminated stars.

Also, the C-Class is powered by MBUX, Mercedes’ proprietary OS, compatible with over-the-air updates, which also includes a massive 39.1-inch display.

The new C-Class is also, partly anyway, autonomous.

It relies on something called MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, a Level 2 autonomous system that Mercedes calls ‘point-to-point’ automated driving.

The price hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can try with a safe guesstimate.

The C-Class starts at around $50,000, then you’ve got the $88,000 required for the AMG 63, and then everything in between.

The electric C-Class will probably be cheaper than the AMG C 63, but only just.

Maybe south of $80,000, but probably north of $60,000.

We’ll find out soon enough.
