A Mercedes G-Wagen managed to tackle an extreme 100% grade (45-degree) slope – demonstrating its excellent off-roading ability.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class – more commonly known as the G-Wagen – was launched all the way back in 1979.
Since then, more than 500,000 units have been sold across the globe.
Last year, Mercedes added an electric version to the line-up too.

The Mercedes G-Wagen is an absolute powerhouse off-road
The G-Wagen is a popular choice for celebrities, with stars including Travis Scott, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and big-time car enthusiast Floyd Mayweather all having one in their collections.
Pope Francis even has his very own customized fully-electric Popemobile version.

But while the high-end SUVs are a common sight on some of the most affluent streets in the world, they’re also pretty nifty when it comes to off-roading. And that’s putting it mildly.
The latest G-Wagens offer a staggering 443 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque alongside a high ground clearance of 9.5 inches between the axles.
To boost traction, the SUVs have permanent all-wheel drive and come with off-road gear reduction.
When the newest generation of G-Wagens – the W465 – was launched last year, Mercedes said the vehicle ‘raises the bar for real adventure on and off the road yet again’.
The vehicle made light work of a steep slope
That sentiment is neatly demonstrated in a clip shared on the Mercedes Lounge YouTube channel.
In the short video, which was filmed at the G-Class Experience Center in Austria, a pale-tan-colored G-Wagen can be seen at the bottom of a steep slope – 100% grade , or 45 degrees, to be exact.
The Mercedes was able to tackle the steep slope with ease and powered its way up to the top.
The camera then changed angle, giving us a glimpse inside the vehicle as the driver began his descent back down the slope.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a G-Wagen tackle such a challenge – one was previously recorded taking on the iconic ‘Hell’s Gate’ path in Utah and making the whole thing look very easy.
