Seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has been spotted wearing a Patek Philippe ahead of his first World Cup game in Qatar.
It’s not your run-of-the-mill Patek Philippe either, it’s an ultra-expensive and super-rare Patek Philippe Nautilus.

This timepiece is definitely a looker.
Finished in 18-karat white-gold, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar you see here (Ref. 5740/1G) is extremely sought after in the market.
You’d be hard-pressed to find one under $150,000.

In addition to the Nautilus Perpetual Calendar, he also owns a Nautilus Flyback Chronograph Date.
He was pictured wearing it while dining out with his wife Antonella in this picture below.

Messi has also been a brand ambassador for Jacob & Co. for about three years.
Together, they’ve created a series of chronographs dubbed ‘Epic X Chrono Messi’.
As you can imagine, Jacob & Co. was more than happy to create some iced out versions as well.

Lionel Messi at the 2022 World Cup
Messi and Argentina were off to a shaky start in Qatar after a shocking defeat against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup.
Messi converted a penalty in the first 10 minutes of the game, giving Argentina the lead at halftime.
However, the South American side failed to create any real chances in the second half and Saudi Arabia scored twice to bring home three precious points.
Mind you, Argentina wasn’t the only team to suffer a chastening defeat in the World Cup so far.
On November 23, Germany lost 2-1 to Japan.
Argentina will now face Mexico on November 26.
