If one person’s living their best life, it’s Michael Jordan.

According to Forbes, the NBA legend is now worth a whopping $3 billion.

That makes him the first athlete to rank among America’s 400 wealthiest people.

Michael Jordan made just shy of $100 million through his NBA contracts as a player.

But it’s his off-court ventures that have made him the wealthiest athlete in history.

His Air Jordan brand makes up for a large part of his net worth.

It’s an incredible achievement – one that’s left his fans in awe.

Following Forbes’ announcement on Monday, fans took to Twitter in droves to show their support for Michael Jordan.

“He has paid his dues. He deserves it,” one fan wrote.

“This man has been carrying Nike for 10+ years and he should be worth way more” another said.

Michael Jordan enters the Forbes 400 list at number 379 having sold his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets earlier this year.

He earned billionaire status in 2015, partly through his endorsement deal with Nike, but also through lucrative contracts with Hanes, Gatorade and Upper Deck.

But Jordan has also become well-known for his philanthropy, making a record-breaking $10 million donation to Make-A-Wish America in honor of his 60th birthday.

That was the largest gift by an individual in the foundation’s 43-year history.

During his 15-season NBA career, Jordan won five MVP awards and six titles with the Chicago Bulls.

Considered by many as the greatest basketball player of all time, Jordan retired in 2003 after two seasons with the Washington Wizards.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s estimated worth of $251 billion sees the Tesla and SpaceX CEO top the Forbes 400, ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose wealth is estimated at $161 billion.

Forbes estimated that America’s 400 richest people are now worth a collective $4.5 trillion.
