Mike Tyson’s 52-room mansion had long been abandoned, but it’s now undergone a remarkable transformation.
This mansion was sold off towards the end of Tyson’s boxing career due to financial issues.
That’s back in 1999, so this property has been sitting desolate for a long while.
Fortunately, it’s now been given a second chance at life.

What’s happened to Mike Tyson’s 52-room mansion in the years since it was sold?
The gates of this mansion make it perfectly clear who used to live here.
But beyond that, this property was a sad shell of its former self.

In its heyday, this would have been the ultimate show of opulence, with a basketball court and tiger cages on site.
Yes, you read that right, tiger cages – the boxer kept four tigers on the land surrounded by a high chain-link fence.
And as is the way with many celebrity properties, there was an indoor swimming pool.

When Tyson, with an estimated fortune of $388 million at its height, went bankrupt, the mansion fell into poor condition.
But much like its former owner, the mansion has made a comeback.

The new and improved mansion
The house has now been converted into The Living Word Sanctuary Church.
That’s according to Living Word Pastor Nicholas DeJacimo.

Originally built in 1979 and bought by Tyson for a mere $300,000, it’s safe to say it’s come a long way.
Pastor DeJacimo has breathed some new life into Mike Tyson’s former home, turning it from a celeb mansion into a house of worship.
“The property had been untouched for 10 years,” he said to the Warren Tribune-Chronicle.
“Us getting this is a miracle. We had to pay the real estate and back taxes.

“So, for $50,000, we acquired the entire property. It was basically donated to us because the former owner needed to write it off. I tell the congregation God literally gave us this.”
It’s good to see this property getting used in a positive way for the community.

Sadly, many abandoned mansions go unloved for years and years.
Whether they belong to a millionaire or a British spy, it’s always a shame to see a nice property going to waste.
