Missy Elliott shocked the crowds at Coachella by performing as a robot in disguise.

With more than 100,000 people attending the American music festival each day, it’s one of the biggest and most iconic events on the calendar.

Elliott put on a remarkable show, performing some of her best hits, with the help of Timbaland, Ciara, and Busta Rhymes.

But one of the most memorable moments came when the Sock It 2 Me rapper turned from a car into a robot, Transformers style.

When we’ve covered celebrities before, there’s usually a thread linking them together.

Perhaps they have an awesome car collection, as was the case with Katy Perry and Dolly Parton.

Or maybe they own a superyacht like Beyonce and Jay-Z, or a private jet like Jake Paul.

But we have to say – a celebrity being a transformer is a new one even to us.

And who better to fill that void than Missy Elliott?

Elliott has been rapping since the 1980s, receiving multiple accolades in that time.

With 40 million records sold and four Grammys to her credit, it’s no wonder that she’s been recognized as the best-selling female rapper by Billboard Magazine.

She’s a groundbreaker in many ways – the first female rapper to go into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and to receive the MTV VMAs Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

As her 2019 track Throw it Back began to play at Coachella, a silverish ‘car’ was seen on the stage.

What happened next was pretty remarkable.

The car began to come apart, as Elliott’s arms and legs came into view.

The crowd was going wild, and the fanfare continued as her full outfit came into view.

The neon outfit was a real show-stopper, but Elliott was far from finished.

With a plethora of her greatest hits on the way, she smashed it out of the park.

The critical reception to the stunt was hugely positive too.

Over on social media, fans applauded the rapper.

“She’s always got that energy,” one fan said.

“Optimus Prime who?? Missy’s creativity never ceases to amaze me,” another gushed.

It’ll be hard to top this at her next performance.
