The British Grand Prix, held at Silverstone, is often one of the most expensive Formula 1 races for general admission fans, and two YouTubers tried to find out if it was worth it.

Ryan and Jade from Live the Dash attended the 2025 event at Silverstone and documented the highs and lows of the weekend.

With pricey tickets, crowded campsites, and early wake-up calls, their experience offered a candid look at race weekend from the perspective of everyday fans.

From glamping to grandstands, they explored how to balance cost and comfort at one of F1’s most iconic venues.

Is Silverstone really the most expensive Formula 1 race?

Due to dynamic pricing, the British Grand Prix gets the dubious honor of possibly having the most expensive Formula 1 general admission tickets on the race calendar.

While other locations like Monaco and Las Vegas may sometimes be pricier, this is subject to demand.

Of course, for more premium tickets, certain locations can also be more costly.

For the whole weekend at Silverstone, the cost for the YouTubers was a staggering £425 ($578).

Of course, ticket prices are not the only expensive item when attending an F1 race.

Just ask this man, who worked out the cost to attend every F1 race in the season.

With local hotels charging eye-watering rates during race week, the YouTube duo opted for a more affordable alternative: glamping.

Originally, they were meant to go camping, but since Jade refused, this was the compromise that was made.

Glamping wasn’t cheap; it cost £650 ($884) for the entire weekend, and an additional £200 ($272) for electricity.

Still, it turned out to be a smart choice.

Compared to the packed general camping area, it offered more space and significantly better facilities.

While glamping was far from cheap, the pair said it was a good compromise, as it was still much cheaper than staying in a hotel.

They recommended it for those seeking both atmosphere and affordability.

With general admission tickets in hand, Ryan and Jade set out to scout the best viewing spots.

It wasn’t easy, as many areas had limited visibility, and ideal positions were snapped up early.

In a way, it might be easier to catch the action at home, given Silverstone’s $60 million investment into capturing every moment for the live broadcast.

Eventually, they found a grassy hill offering a decent vantage point.

Of course, there’s a catch. They’d need to arrive by 5 a.m. to secure a place there.

And even then, getting in early wasn’t guaranteed on Sunday, as all attendees had to queue for wristbands, regardless of whether they held weekend passes.

Adding to the cost, food and drinks prices inside the circuit were predictably steep: £8.60 ($11.70) for a bacon baguette, £5 ($6.80) for bottled water, and curiously, just £3.50 ($4.70) for a Coke.

A last-minute bid for grandstand tickets

Come race day, they ultimately decided against the 5 a.m. dash for a patch of grass and asked followers if they should upgrade to grandstand tickets.

The response was a resounding yes.

After a sudden rain shower and the realization they wouldn’t get a clear view without getting drenched, they gave in and purchased the grandstand seats.

The cost? £579 ($787) each.

While steep, Ryan noted these seats sometimes drop in price closer to race day if availability remains.

With their grandstand tickets in hand, they were able to comfortably witness British racer Lando Norris take home the trophy, as well as the podium debut of German veteran Nico Hulkenberg.

Looking back, the couple said they’d likely repeat the grandstand experience at the British Grand Prix, but tweak their strategy.

Instead of buying the most expensive Formula 1 general admission ticket for the whole weekend, they would only buy general admission tickets on Friday to soak in the atmosphere.

Then, they’d upgrade to the grandstand for the main event, ensuring they don’t need to spend all their time looking for a place to sit.
