Have you ever wondered about the most powerful engine ever factory-installed in a Ford Mustang?
Well, wonder no longer – because it has already been officially unveiled.
The engine in question comes courtesy of the 2025 Mustang GTD.
And it is the most powerful engine the factory has ever installed.

Ford unveils its most powerful engine – ever
Ford has always taken great pride in installing some of the most powerful engine options from the factory.
And that trend has only grown with its marquee 2025 offering.
Earlier this year, the marque unveiled the 2025 Mustang GTD to the masses.
This Nürburgring-crushing behemoth set the car world alight after smashing its own lap record.
And its ability to achieve such an unreal feat largely lies in what hides beneath the hood.
Because the 2025 Mustang GTD has the most powerful engine ever fitted by the Ford factory.

The engine just happens to be an 815HP, supercharged monster of a unit.
This 5.2-liter V8 engine is paired with an eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
Unfortunately, the car with the most powerful engine also comes with the most powerful price tag.
This Mustang GTD comes with a base price of $327,960, and that’s just the beginning.
The brand has also whacked on a mandatory $5,500 delivery charge, as well as a $3,700 gas guzzler tax.
Other powerful powerplants over the years
Even though this is the most powerful engine Ford itself has put in a car, there have been some beasts over the years.
Tuners – especially Saleen and Shelby – have got to work on some insanely powerful engines over the years.
Back in 2024, Saleen worked its magic on a heavily modified, base 5.0-liter Ford motor.
The end result – the 302 Mustang Black Label – ultimately produced 800HP.

It certainly wasn’t cheap, costing $108,990, but it was, at the time, the most powerful engine in a Ford.
And it was also over a third of the price of a brand-new Mustang GTD.
Would you pay over $300k for the most powerful engine the brand has ever put in a car?
