This Ford Mustang Mach-E and Dodge Charger Daytona EV went head-to-head in a drag race, and the winner left the loser in the dust.

The YouTube team put the two racecars through the same conditions, first a quarter mile, then a braking test, a corner handling test, and ending with a sprint to finish.

To make sure they left nothing to chance, the two drivers swapped cars after the first race and did it all over again.

One car certainly put on a far more impressive display than the other.

EV drag race

There’s nothing quite like the thrill and excitement of a classic muscle car drag race, the speed, the pumping adrenaline, the dirty roar of the engines…wait, what?

In an EV drag race, there is a distinct lack of the classic muscle car engine roar, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.

This isn’t just any old drag race either, it’s an Edmunds Cars drag race, which means that after the classic quarter mile, both EVs have to brake immediately, handle a corner, and do a final sprint to finish.

To keep things fair, the drivers always switch cars to ensure the results reflect the performance of the vehicles, not the drivers.

How did the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Dodge Charger Daytona do?

During the initial quarter mile, it couldn’t have been closer between the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Dodge Charger Daytona.

But ultimately, the charger Daytona pulled ahead, completing the quarter mile in 11.9 seconds while the Mustang Mach-E did 12.2 seconds.

Both EVs managed to go from 0-60 mph in exactly 3.6 seconds, and the Mustang Mach-E had a fabulous start.

However, its amazing start was short-lived as the Charger Daytona pulled ahead soon after, leaving the Mustang in the dust.

After the initial quarter mile, the Daytona continued to dominate.

The Charger Daytona finished the race – which included the braking test, corner handling test, and sprint to finish – in 34.1 seconds, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E finished with a 35.9 second time.
