The mystery of a bright pink McLaren 570s which has been sitting parked outside a hotel for years may have been solved.

Since 2020, this eye-catching number has seemed like a permanent fixture outside St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London.

As far as anyone can tell, it hasn’t moved an inch in four years.

The McLaren Mystery grips TikTok

The car was highlighted by a TikToker called Gabby, on her account @SoggySpin4ch, when she wrote: “When will this pink car move? This car has been here the whole pandemic.”

Evidently other Londoners had noticed too, as they piled into the comments to share their observations.

“Omg yeah! It hasn’t moved and I’ve been walking past here a few times over the last couple of years,” one person wrote.

Another commented: “Wait…I walked past this like seven months ago…ITS STILL THERE?”

Even tourists to London had been getting wise, as one viewer said: “I literally live in Oxford and whenever I come to London, [I see] this car.”

So what gives?

One person in the comments had an explanation.

They commented: “I actually work at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, the McLaren is owned by one guest who permanently moved into the hotel near the start of the pandemic because he was having trouble getting back to his country.”

Seen elsewhere in London is this extremely rare Ferrari that is owned by the Sultan of Brunei and his family.

Mystery solved

A staff member from the hotel has spoken to Metro and confirmed the truth behind the car’s mysterious – but beautiful – presence.

Speaking to the paper, they said: “It belongs to a man who is renting one of the apartments upstairs.

“He has been living there for a number of years, we’re not sure who he is.

“Every time we walk past it I just think what a car, and how lucky he must be to drive it.

“He does go out in it from time to time.”

So, there you have it.

The identity of the mystery owner or his country of origin have not yet been revealed however.

Whoever he is, he has the cash to spend – these cars are high-end products and – as such – command some high-end prices.

At the very least, the McLaren hasn’t become a tourist attraction just yet.

Down in Italy, a Lancia Fulvia became a big tourist draw after it was parked in one spot for nearly fifty years.

Admittedly, there’s a bit more whimsy about a car in a picturesque Italian town, compared to a parked car in a bustling metropolitan city.

Even if it is a bright pink supercar.
