Neurotechnology company Neuralink just reached a major milestone.

The company successfully performed two surgeries in one day.

We’re talking about something that’s a bit more complex than fixing a broken finger, so that’s definitely impressive.

And the company is also making progress in another field.

A major milestone for the company

Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company has so far completed nine surgeries.

All nine were successful, and all nine patients have recovered fully.

But the biggest news is that, for the first time, the company has successfully implanted two chips in a day, as confirmed in a post shared on X.

The company was created with a specific purpose in mind.

The goal was to create chips to help people with life-altering diseases, such as ALS, as well as people with spinal cord injuries.

That’s awesome, of course, but it gets better because the company is also working on two new ideas.

The next two challenges for Neuralink

The company is also working on two devices – Blindsight and Link – designed to restore eyesight and speech.

In simple terms, these chips are designed to translate brain inputs into functions, in this case speech and eyesight, when a person is no longer capable of doing that autonomously.

Elon Musk himself has often talked about these upcoming devices on X.

“Even if someone has never had vision ever we believe we can still restore vision,” he said.

“The visual part of the cortex is still there. We’re confident they could see.”

The company has already started testing these implants on monkeys – with good results so far – and even though they’re not ready to move on to a human trial yet, it feels like it’s just a matter of time.
