The new 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance is finally here, and there’s a lot to unpack.
Unveiled just a few months after the debut of the new Juniper, the new Performance model is more powerful, and has more range.
Tesla also made a lot of changes under the surface.
And the price might surprise you.

The fastest Model Y ever
About two seconds after the launch of the revamped Tesla Model Y, the one everyone calls Juniper, people began asking questions about the new Performance model.
A few months later, just days after the unveiling of the new China-only Model YL, Tesla finally revealed the new Model Y Performance.
The electric motor puts out 460 horsepower, making it the most powerful Model Y ever, and it offers up 360 miles of range.

Visually, Tesla redesigned both bumpers, partly for aesthetic reasons, but also to make the new Model Y more aerodynamically efficient.
Tesla also gave the car new 21-inch wheels.
Speaking of aesthetics, the Performance model also features a carbon fiber spoiler, new red brake calipers and Performance badges.

The interior has also been customized to reflect the car’s sporting credentials.
You get new aluminum pedals, new carbon fiber inserts for the dashboard, and new sports seats.
It also has a new touchscreen, which is slightly larger (16 inches vs 15.4) than before.
Performance and price
Performance-wise, the top speed is electronically limited to 250KM/H (155MPH), but the new 0-60MPH time of 3.3 seconds (nearly as fast as the Plaid, by the way) puts it in the same category as some supercars.
Tesla threw everything but the kitchen sink at this one, by the way.
This is because there are a lot of modifications you don’t necessarily see, but they make a huge difference.

The new batteries, for example, are more energy dense, which means they give more power and range while weighing the same as before.
The suspension system is new, and Tesla also upgraded the chassis.
In terms of MSRP, Model Y Performance starts at £61,990 in the UK and €61,990 in Europe.
