Chinese robotic firm EngineAI has shared new footage of its bipedal PM01 humanoid robot getting knocked down and back up again, and it looks scarily human-like.

Growing up, many of us watched shuffling, clanking robots in science fiction movies.

But robotic technology has come a long way in a relatively short span of time, and newer bots are able to carry out tasks such as folding laundry, serving popcorn, and flying through the air like Spider-Man

Or, in the case of EngineAI’s PM01 robot, dance around, get kicked to the floor, and then get back up again at lightning speed.

Engine AI’s PM01 humanoid robot has incredibly natural movement

Humanoid robots were a big part of this year’s annual CES, and the industry has attracted some big names, like Tesla, which has the Optimus bot, and Amazon, which recently unveiled its tactile robots

Over in China, EngineAI has been quietly working away on its humanoid robot PM01 and recently shared new footage showcasing its abilities.

The compact, humanoid robot can be seen performing a flawless forward flip and landing neatly on its feet.

The video then cuts to a couple of guys pushing and kicking the poor little bot in an attempt to knock it off balance.

Impressively, for the main part, it managed to stay on its two feet despite the hits, and even when it did end up tumbling to the ground, it got back up again at an impressive speed.

The clip went on to show the robot walking on some grass, taking a moment to lie down, and then shooting back up again and going on its way.

What stands out most about the PM01 is how fluidly it moves, with almost human-like motion.

Due to its smaller size, the PM01 has a lower center of mass, which helps it remain stable and reduces its tripping risk.

China is leading the way when it comes to robots

EngineAI and the PM01 aren’t the only impressive robots to come out of China, far from it, in fact.

Unitree Robotics recently shared footage of a fleet of its robots marking the Chinese New Year with a mind-blowing display of dancing, kung-fu moves, and even some sword work thrown in.

And Chinese start-up AgiBot, has been developing its bipedal Yuanzheng A2 ‘interactive service robot’ for the last couple of years.

The robot is powered by AI, and its creators say it can have intelligent real-time conversations with humans, which is more than can be said for some humans we know.

The bot also features facial recognition so it can read lips in noisy environments with 96 percent accuracy, according to AgiBot.
