The New Jersey police department’s $310,000 Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato supercar might just be the coolest police car on the planet.
Thanks to a partnership with a New Jersey dealership, the City of Garfield Police Department ended up with the Huracán Sterrato.
Decked out with a police livery and flashing lights, it’s certainly giving the Dubai Police supercar fleet a run for its money.
And the force wanted it for a very specific reason.

Why the New Jersey police wanted a Lamborghini
The New Jersey police said they needed a supercar to help in their fight against the opioid epidemic.
More specifically, the City of Garfield Police Department wanted a car that would stand out.
Doing so would give the police more presence on the streets to deter those dealing in opioids.
The supercar also forms part of a new community-engagement initiative.
This is called Outrun opioids, and its focus is on opioid awareness, education, and prevention.
The Huracán Sterrato has been loaned to the police for this service, meaning the taxpayer hasn’t paid anything towards it.
It is set to remain in service with the police force until June 2026, when the dealership will take it back.
There is a chance then that an ex-police Lamborghini may go up for sale next summer.
The Huracán Sterrato is built for off-roading
What makes this cop car even more special is the fact that the Huracán Sterrato can go off-road.
Lamborghini built it as a special version of the Huracán, with lifted suspension and off-road tires.
An increased ride height has added benefits for normal driving, too.
The officer driving the supercar won’t have to worry about scraping the underside of it, for example.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter Lamborghini V10.
This engine makes 640hp and 417lb-ft of torque.
That is the same output as the Huracán Evo version of the supercar.
So it’s not just a gimmick, you really get supercar performance with an off-roader.
What made the Sterrato even more special was that it was the last non-hybrid model launched by Lamborghini.
So whoever the lucky cop is who gets to drive this car will be driving the end of an era.
