Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its ultra-luxurious Vision V concept electric vehicle, which comes with a lounge-like cabin and a 65-inch cinema screen.

Mercedes has long been a leader when it comes to creating luxury vehicles, and it seems its new concept is no exception.

The luxury van, which was previewed at the Shanghai auto show, has a sleek exterior and resembles the lounge of a private jet or luxury yacht inside.

Mercedes says the EV is ‘the dawn of a new era’ and gives a glimpse into the marque’s future.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision V concept EV is next level luxe

In recent months and years, we’ve seen more and more carmakers boosting their EV and hybrid offerings.

Back in 2023, Mercedes announced its all-new VANS.EA electric vans, which it plans to launch in 2026.

Now, the marque has revealed what one of these new vans could look like with its super luxe Vision V concept.

The vehicle is designed to be ridden in, not driven, with Mercedes describing it as ‘an elegant chauffeur-driven limousine that opens up a whole new world of comfort’.

Outwardly, the Vision V has a futuristic-looking design with smooth lines, plenty of chrome, ornate LED headlights, and an illuminated hood ornament.

However, it’s inside where the real luxury lies, thanks to its spacious lounge-inspired interiors.

Slide back one of the Vision V’s huge doors, and you’ll be greeted by white Nappa leather seats, a rich wooden trim, and white silk elements.

The seats can be laid out flat, similar to those you’d find in the first-class area of a plane, and between them sits the center console with its own touchpad to control the infotainment system.

There’s even an onboard chessboard, with pieces that neatly stow away in a side cabinet when not in use.

The Mercedes concept comes with a cinema in the back

The stunning interiors of the Vision V are perfectly blended with state-of-the-art technology to offer an ‘unprecedented immersive digital experience’, according to Mercedes-Benz.

This includes a huge 65-inch cinema screen with a Dolby Atmos surround-sound system featuring 42 speakers.

There are also seven projectors in the EV’s headliner and floor, which can transform the inside of the vehicle into a fully immersive experience.

The concept has ‘seven different worlds of experience’: Entertainment, Relax, Gaming, Work, Shopping, Discovery, and Karaoke.

The ‘worlds’ are all fairly self-explanatory – Gaming will turn the cabin into a gaming hub, and Entertainment invites you to sit back and watch a movie in 4K or listen to some music.

The first production variant of the VAN.EA range will be introduced in 2026 and is set to be followed by more in the following years.

It’s unlikely any production version will end up exactly like the Vision V, but it does show that the marque has its eyes firmly set on the future.
