The new Toyota GR GT supercar has recently been revealed, and it is a twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid that has the Porsche 911 Turbo S firmly in its sights.
Toyota has revealed a road-going and racing version of the supercar, which is effectively a successor to the fearsome Lexus LFA from a few years ago.
The Japanese manufacturer revealed a road-going version of the supercar, as well as the GR GT3, a racing version that will ply most of its trade in its native Japan.
If anyone was worried that we’d see no more performance cars from Toyota, then worry no more.

The Toyota GR GT is a Porsche killer
Even at a first glance, we can tell the road car is a serious bit of kit.
Under the hood is a dry-sumped twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 641hp and 627lb-ft of torque.
Those numbers easily put it ahead of the current 992.1 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Interestingly, the Japanese manufacturer has said that the power levels could be ‘greater’, suggesting more headroom.

In terms of the top speed, the company has said it will be ‘greater’ than 199mph.
It will be interesting to see just how much greater the power and speed of the car are.
Pleasingly, this won’t be a limited-edition, but a proper series-production supercar.
The GR GT was also launched as an FIA GT3 racer
Almost more exciting was the news that the new GR GT was being launched as a GT3 race car.
It’s an evolution of the supercar, but with much more aggressive aero and, of course, a stripped-out cabin.
Inside, there’s your usual racing goodness, such as the roll-cage, yoke wheel, and various safety features.
Think of this as the Toyota version of the Nissan GT-R, which was also developed as a GT3 car.

At the time of writing, Toyota was being very coy on the exact performance figures of the car.
But we do know production should begin soon, and the production model will arrive around 2027.’
It is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting cars we saw revealed in 2025.
The addition of the racing version made the GR GT’s introduction even more exciting.
