New York man who switched from gas to EV and drove Tesla 100,000 miles works out his monthly savings and is left surprised

This New Yorker switched from gas to EV, and 100,000 miles in his Tesla had him shocked at his monthly savings.

Nowadays, more and more people are making the switch to electric cars.

That comes with a lot of adaptations, as you might expect.

But one thing still leaves drivers surprised – how much money they save.

This New York man had driven his new Tesla for 100,000 miles and was stunned by the savings

TikTok creator Suleyman Dolaev was walking the streets of New York to speak to people about their driving experiences.

One man he came across was Jovian, an R&B artist, who had purchased a Tesla Model 3 five years ago.

In the years since, he racked up more than 100,00 miles on it.

Fortunately for him, he had a home charger.

If you’re familiar with EVs, you’ll know what that equals – big savings.

“I’m able to charge at home overnight more often than having to go to Superchargers,” he said.

“I haven’t seen much of an increase in my electricity bill.”

This represented savings of $150 and $200 a month compared to what he was paying for gas.

And that’s not forgetting other costs like oil changes.

This EV-Gas car debate isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

In the last few years, EVs have grown increasingly popular.

But as they’ve become more visible, more people have gotten themselves embroiled in the EV versus gas debate.

Plenty of people have spoken up about the savings they’ve amassed by switching to EVs.

One Model Y owner was so stunned that he had to take a picture of his bill.

A UK man gave a thorough breakdown of how much 1,300 miles a week cost him in his Model 3.

For another man, it was a direct comparison between a Tesla and a gas-powered Mini.

It was recently reported that EVs are officially cheaper to run in the UK than gas-powered cars.

The average petrol driver in the UK spends around $990 (£760) a year on fuel, compared to $903 (£694) on public charging for EV drivers.

And that’s only taking public charging into account.

EV drivers who have the option to charge from home are raking it in when it comes to savings.
