This YouTuber decided to test how long different car engines would run with no oil, pitting a BMW X5 and a Porsche Cayenne against each other.

Both the vehicles have V8 engines, so they were fairly evenly matched.

After the oil was drained, the YouTuber waited with baited breath to see which car would last longer.

And he was shocked by the results.

BMW X5 VS. Porsche Cayenne with no oil

Car YouTuber Mat Watson from Carwow decided to test the V8 engines of two old cars, a BMW X5 and a Porsche Cayenne.

The cars were used in previous videos offroad so they were both in a pretty bad state, so Mat was happy to write them off after his experiment.

His experiment started with draining the oil from both the car’s engines.

The oil looked like it was poor quality with the BMW’s oil being dark and gunky and the Porsche’s oil described as ‘primordial swamp’.

The BMW nearly didn’t start and Mat eventually had to jump-start it, but he got both car’s engines running and was ready to start the experiment.

And they’re (not) off…

Both cars managed to run idle without oil in the engine, but the BMW started sounding increasingly worse.

When both engines were increased to 2000 revs per minute, the BMW started to leak oil.

After about five minutes, the BMW started emitting smoke, showing how much it truly was struggling.

The Porsche Cayenne however, just carried on running with absolutely no signs of stopping.

After seven minutes, the BMW finally gave up the ghost, while the Porsche Cayenne carried on running even past 14 minutes, so Mat applied higher revs.

Mat ended the video with the Porsche Cayenne still running well past 22 minutes, despite producing steam and worrying noises.

The YouTuber couldn’t believe that the Porsche was still going despite people questioning the reliability of its engine.
