This North Carolina man drove his Acura NSX from Key West all the way up to the Arctic Circle.
If ever there was a change of scenery, it’d be driving up from the south of Florida up into the sub-zero temperatures of the far north.
But that’s exactly what John Lange did.
He’s owned 14 different Acura NSXs over the years, and he seems to be a firm believer in cars being put to use – as this awe-inspiring road trip demonstrated.

Taking an Acura NSX from Key West up into the Arctic Circle
John Lange, from Asheville, North Carolina, is a great lover of Acura NSXs.
Currently owning three, Lange seems to belong in the camp that believes cars shouldn’t just sit in the garage.
If this current excursion is anything to go by, he wanted to put them to use out on the road.

And what better trip could he have envisioned than driving from Key West in Florida up into the Arctic Circle in Alaska?
It’s a gigantic trip, there’s no doubt about it.
But that wasn’t his original plan.
At first, he was going to stop in Tacoma, Washington, where there was an annual meet-up for NSX owners.
Things escalated from there, as he contemplated driving into Canada and then going further.
“I started thinking, well, if I’m going to drive into Canada, I should probably consider driving to Alaska and to the Arctic Circle,” he told The Autopian.
“And then I considered, I’m four hours from the coast of South Carolina, so I could just pop down the Atlantic and start on the Atlantic.

“And then the scope creep continued, and I realized the only real way to do it would be to drive down to Key West to ‘start my trip.'”
Go big or go home, right?
Not that this car hadn’t travelled plenty of roads before – it already had 200,000 miles on the clock.
There’s nothing more American than a good old-fashioned road trip
As you might expect, a journey of this magnitude came with some challenges.
The 230 miles up and down Alaska’s famously tough Dalton Highway would be enough to make many drivers tighten their grip at the wheel.
Admittedly, it’s not as scary as some of the most dangerous roads in the world, but still.
But never fear, the NSX powered through and got Lange to his destination.
Things took a turn for the worse 10 minutes after he left the Dalton Highway, however.
During a brief lapse in concentration, he hit a dip pothole and ripped the front lid off – not realizing until he was at Fairbanks.
Never fear – the car still drew a lot of eyeballs up in Alaska, where Acura NSXs aren’t too common.
Literal bumps in the road aside, it sounded like Lange had an awesome trip.
We can’t think of a better use for a car than a good old-fashioned road trip.
But some road trips are more intense than others, like the one undertaken by a couple in their Cadillac hearse.
