An Ohio grandfather was left in disbelief after he saw his 1962 Corvette transformed and cleaned for the first time in 53 years after the Chevrolet Corvette sports car was abandoned.

Detailers WD Detailing are excellent at reviving barn finds, and in a recent video, they got their hands on a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette that a grandfather left in his garage.

Now owned by his grandson, he aimed to restore the car, but enlisted the help of these detailers to clean it up and make it look presentable again.

The transformation of the Corvette throughout the video is quite simply incredible.

Why the 1962 Corvette was parked in a garage

The reasoning for the car being abandoned was quite simple.

The grandfather bought this car in 1972, and on the way home, the car ran out of gas.

So, he pushed it a block into his garage, but after that, it was never driven again.

The insurance at the time was too high for him to justify rerunning the car.

It sat for decades gathering dust, dirt, and mould, and now it’s finally got a second chance at life.

The car is all original, and everything is numbers-matching.

WD Detailing was brought in to get the car gleaming again and to see how well the original paintwork held up.

The Corvette was transformed by its deep clean

WD Detailing gave the car its usual deep clean, and the results were almost instant.

Even after just the basic wash, the transformation of the sports car was incredible.

There were some paintwork issues, however, including a weird mark at the rear and some scratches and nicks.

So it will need a cosmetic restoration too, but the grandson does want to keep the original color.

The interior arguably came up the most impressive, looking almost like new after its detailing.

At the end of the video, the owner and his family were brought in to get a look at the car.

They were absolutely staggered by just how different it looked.

While it clearly needs extra restoration work, this gorgeous Corvette should soon be back on the road again.
