Ohio YouTuber IShowSpeed was very impressed with a Chinese EV and wanted to take it home – but he was told some devastating news.

The 20-year-old content creator is currently traveling through China, having a lot of fun along the way.

But a highlight of his trip would certainly be getting an up-close look at the Yangwang U9.

However, his enthusiasm for the car was dampened when he learned that he wouldn’t be able to drive it back in his home country, the US.

IShowSpeed got excited about driving this Chinese EV back in Ohio… before he was told some bad news

IShowSpeed has lived quite an extraordinary life, even by the standards of celebrities.

In his 20 years of life, he has jumped over a Cristiano Ronaldo-themed Lamborghini as it drove towards him, bought a $10m mansion at age 18, and sat inside a flying car.

The streamer is currently traveling through China, testing out new cars along the way.

You don’t have to be a car expert to know that the East Asian country has been pulling out all the stops in recent years when it comes to car production.

BYD and Li Auto are two examples of Chinese success stories in this field.

Yangwang is another, and it’s the Yangwang U9 that got Speed’s attention.

In fact, he was so taken with the Chinese EV that he attempted to buy it, only to be met with a crushing disappointment.

When he first came across the car, he assumed it was a Lamborghini.

Sitting inside the car only ramped up his excitement, particularly when he found that the car had an infotainment system with direct access to TikTok.

Getting the U9 to do its automatic 180 rotation really got him pumped up.

“F**k! Ain’t no way!” he yelled as the car began turning on its own accord.

“Ain’t no way this s**t is moving by itself!”

Getting the car to jump elicited further big reactions from the rarely shy and retiring streamer.

“What just happened?! YO! What kind of car is this?!”

Getting the car to ‘dance’ to music was just the cherry on top for Speed.

What happened when it came time to buy

Speed was ready to buy the $200k car, which was capable of 1,200hp.

However, somebody in his chat informed him that he couldn’t bring it back to the US.

The rules around bringing a Chinese EV into the United States are very stringent, and recent tariffs enacted by the US government will only make that process pricier.

Speed was evidently annoyed, as he stamped his foot.

But he had an idea for a backup plan – having the car shipped to his house in Portugal.

The men selling him the car seemed uncertain on whether this would work, but they said that the U9 had been to the Netherlands and Germany.

Whether or not we’ll see Speed taking this car for a spin in Portugal remains to be seen.
