This YouTuber bought a one-million-mile 1997 Lexus LS 400 for just $1.

Initially, he planned to turbocharge the Lexus and push it to its limits on the dyno until it broke.

But after taking a closer look at the old Lexus, he decided to restore it instead.

And as he discovered, the car was full of surprises.

Lexus LS 400 with a lot of surprises

As Tavarish and his crew inspected the car, a lizard jumped out from under the car and climbed down one of their heads.

It was an interesting start to the inspection, but there were more surprises to come.

When they popped the trunk of the old car, they found a strange mix of items.

There were disposable glasses, aluminum foil, and even cat food – not exactly what you’d expect to find left behind in the trunk of a car.

Initially, when Tavarish first got the Lexus LS 400, he didn’t expect much, as the battery was dead and the car hadn’t run in a while.

But with the help of Lexus expert Michael Elsea, they got the car up and running again.

The car was worth restoring

With more than a million miles on the meter, it’s impressive the guys were able to get it in working condition again.

But the car was showing its age, because it was still blowing a huge amount of smoke from the tailpipes.

With just a dollar paid for the car, it was now worth a lot more than that.

If you want to watch the entire restoration process, Tavarish documented it over on his YouTube channel 2varish.

Tavarish is well known for working on some pretty wild projects, including the flooded McLaren P1 that he rebuilt from scratch.
