It’s not every day you see a 2003 Honda Accord roll past a million miles, but one Tennessee driver managed to do just that.

For Navy veteran Justin Kilmer, the milestone wasn’t just about numbers on an odometer; it was about nearly two decades of memories, family, and service.

When the car’s dashboard froze at 999,999 miles on a road trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, Justin couldn’t help but get a little emotional.

After all, he considered the humble vehicle a part of his family.

The couple even filmed it reaching 1 million miles

The white 2003 Honda Accord has been in the Kilmer family since before Justin and his wife Lisa were even married.

Lisa bought it brand new almost 20 years ago, and over time, the couple’s daughters grew up riding in its backseat.

“The car’s been in the family the entire time,” Justin said. “That’s why reaching a million was pretty emotional for us.”

Justin, a former Navy pilot turned flight simulator instructor in Kingsville, Texas, has spent countless hours behind the wheel.

In 2015, he picked up a side job as a medical courier, and that’s when the mileage really started to climb.

“I’ve worked an excess of 40 hours a week doing this job,” he said.

But the long drives had a purpose: Justin delivered life-saving medical supplies and blood samples to hospitals across Texas, often making runs all the way to Houston.

Interestingly, he’s not even the only medical courier who has somehow maxed out the odometer on his car, as this Kansas-based woman did the same in her Hyundai Elantra.

Justin even filmed the moment his car’s odometer hit the million mark, maxing out and freezing forever at a sea of nines.

“The trip odometer will continue to roll over and keep going, but the main odometer freezes at the nines. So, I ended up having to buy a new instrument cluster and put that in,” Justin said.

When a local TV anchor went for a quick spin afterward, the fresh display read 1,290 miles, officially bringing the grand total to 1,001,290.

The 2003 Honda Accord hit a million miles with its original engine

Through all those miles, the 2003 Honda Accord has kept its original engine and continues to run strong, thanks to Justin’s dedicated maintenance routine and a trusted local mechanic.

He continues to record his adventures with his precious Accord on social media, but it’s not all bragging rights for him.

“Yeah, it achieved a million miles, but it’s also done a lot of good in the world, too,” he said.

This Honda Accord joins a small but illustrious list of vehicles that exceeded a million miles, like this man’s Toyota Tacoma, which hit 1.6 million miles, or this legendary Volvo, which has more than three million miles on the odometer.
