A stunning Pagani Zonda made entirely out of golden coins and dedicated to sports superstar Lionel Messi has been unveiled.
The Pagani Zonda is one of the most exclusive sports cars ever made after the Italian car manufacturer only produced 140 cars.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t make more…or replicas at least.
That’s the case for car collector Jorge Gomez and Uruguayan artist Joaquin Arbiza, who have built a brand-new Zonda showpiece made entirely out of gold coins and watermarked with Lionel Messi’s face.

Pagani Zonda art piece is made entirely out of gold coins
Jorge Gomez is one of the very few people to have owned one of the exclusive 140 Zonda supercars and is the first person in Latin America to own one.
However, the car collector sold his car in 2021 to fund a new factory for his multi-million dollar electrical material enterprise.
The Zonda-shaped hold in his life needed filling, so he commissioned a piece of art devoted to his beloved car and tinted with shades of his favorite athlete.
Unveiled at the Miami Concours during its inaugural Art Week Cars & Coffee event, this showstopper was forged out of 100,000 intricately placed Uruguayan $2 coins and 500,000 soldering points, perfectly replicating the body of a Pagani Zonda.
Of course, the Zonda doesn’t have a top speed of over 200mph like the original C12, but rather can only reach 1mph when pushed by a crew, because – of course – there is no powertrain under the halcyon-colored coin hood.
Still, the artwork is incredible.
You can see straight through the wheel arches where the gold coin work continues into the brake disks, and even down to details like the wing mirrors and spoilers are without a blemish or break of pattern.
Why the Lionel Messi tribute?
Of course, this masterpiece doesn’t need much more highlighting.
On its own, the 100,000 coin collection molded into a sports car is enough to create one of the best pieces of car art ever commissioned.
But, Gomez is reported to be a massive soccer enthusiast, most notably admiring Lionel Messi.
Given Gomez lives in Miami, Messi’s arrival at local club Inter Miami alongside other twilight superstars like Luis Suarez presumably only made the love for the ‘greatest of all time’ player even stronger.
Messi himself is also quite the Zonda admirer as he owns an ultra-rare Tricolore edition, dubbed as one of the best cars on the planet.
The Zonda will likely be transferred from the Miami event to Gomez’s garage or home, where it will be quite the talking point over Christmas dinner.
