This Pennsylvania man found the last manual Volkswagen GTI sitting at a Montana dealership.

YouTuber Jamie Orr is a big fan of Volkswagens, so it was only fitting that he’d take ownership of the last manual GTI.

It took him a long time to track down the final one, which was located at a dealership in Missoula, Montana.

That’s thousands of miles away, but surely distance doesn’t matter for such a momentous occasion, right?

How this Pennsylvania man tracked down the last manual Volkswagen GTI – all the way in Montana

When it comes to cars, there’s no distance too far to travel.

We’ve seen people drive from Phoenix, Arizona to New Hampshire and from Michigan to Tucson, Arizona.

For one YouTuber, he left no stone unturned to get his hands on the last manual Volkswagen GTI.

It took months of back and forth between him and VW to get a concrete answer on the location of the final one.

You may think that such a rare and dying breed of car would be holed up somewhere in a museum, like this 1971 Vauxhall Victor FE.

But no, it was sat in a standard dealership in the city of Missoula, Montana.

In 2024, Volkswagen announced a special GTI that would be exclusive to North America and mark the end of manuals on the continent.

This was the VW Gold GTI 380, and it came with 19-inch black wheels from the Golf R 20th Anniversary edition.

You would think that the last manual GTI would merit a bit more of a final bow, rather than just sitting at a dealership out west.

But at least it’s been bought by somebody who truly loves Lambos – and was willing to drive thousands of miles to pick it up.

Jamie Orr on his new purchase

In a video shared to his TikTok, he discussed the process of getting ahold of the GTI.

He said: “This was one of many, but when I asked four months ago, ‘Hey, where’s the last manual GTI going?’, nothing really happened.

“I asked a month ago and we tracked it down to here.”

We applaud the dedication to drive 2,300 miles.

Manuals are increasingly rare in the U.S., with only one manual pickup being left in America.

A BMW executive is of the opinion that they’re going to be a thing of the past soon, which is a shame.
