A group of American men bought a personal aircraft drone from Temu and couldn’t quite believe what turned up at their door.

The content creators described it as one of the most dangerous and ambitious projects they’ve ever attempted.

The giant crate contained a human-carrying multicopter that promised to lift a person into the air.

After assembling it piece by piece, they decided to find out whether it could actually fly.

They bought a personal aircraft drone from Temu

Temu has become known for selling everything from bargain gadgets to surprisingly capable vehicles, but few listings are as ambitious as a personal aircraft.

That’s exactly what a group of US YouTubers, the ‘Goonzsquad‘ decided to order after spotting a human-carrying drone on the online marketplace.

When the enormous crate finally arrived, they admitted they were more nervous than excited.

“This is not the most dangerous thing off Temu,” one of them said.

“This is the most dangerous thing we’ve ever bought, period.”

The aircraft arrived in several shipments, with the first boxes containing the carbon fiber frame, batteries and cockpit shell before the motors, propellers and remote controller followed later.

Despite expecting something that looked cheap, the squad was impressed by the carbon fiber construction and surprisingly high-quality finish.

They compared the aircraft to the Jetson ONE, a personal electric aircraft that costs well into six figures, noting that their Temu purchase was only a fraction of that price.

Still, they were determined not to rush into flying it.

The team repeatedly said they would keep their first tests low to the ground while they learned how the aircraft behaved.

It’s actually a real aircraft

After assembling the multicopter, the group encountered a damaged propeller and had to contact the supplier, who agreed to send a replacement.

They also had to configure the controller, which was entirely in Chinese, and even used ChatGPT to help identify some of the controls before testing the motors.

Once the batteries were fully charged, they headed to an open field for the moment of truth, the first human-led flight.

The first flight was carried out using the remote controller without anyone sitting inside.

To their surprise, the personal aircraft lifted cleanly into the air and hovered steadily before landing safely.

Encouraged by the successful test, one member of the group climbed into the cockpit while another operated the controls remotely.

The aircraft lifted him several feet into the air without any obvious struggle.

After landing, he described the experience as unexpectedly calm.

“It actually didn’t feel too bad, honestly,” he said.

“It just really felt like I wanted to just keep flying.”

Although the successful hover tempted them to try flying it themselves, the group ultimately decided against it.

Instead, they agreed they needed more practice and more guidance from the manufacturer before attempting a full self-piloted flight with the personal aircraft drone.

Given they had already called it one of their most dangerous projects ever, it seemed like the sensible decision.
