$850 Pimp My Ride minivan contained stunning secret about the show inside but US man gets another surprise when he has CarMax appraise it

This American man got his hands on an $850 Pimp My Ride minivan which contained a stunning secret about the show.

But that wasn’t the whole story with this Chrysler Voyager.

Tyler Hoover restored the car and took it to CarMax for an appraisal.

The figure he got back was a huge shock.

This Pimp My Ride minivan is the stuff of legend

Over the years, many of the weird and wonderful creations that appeared on MTV’s Pimp My Ride have resurfaced.

Whether it was this Nissan Maxima or this Toyota RAV4, these cars were divisive but always memorable.

But perhaps no car has proven quite as memorable as this purple-pink Chrysler Voyager.

In the decades after it appeared on the show, the car has been something of a fixture on the YouTube circuit.

The minivan ended up in the possession of Tavarish later down the line, leading him to take a closer look at it.

Upon closer inspection, he realized how much work needed doing.

“A little secret that they probably don’t want you to know is the fact that a lot of times they didn’t use the original car,” Tavarish explained.

“They got cars that looked kind of like it and then they’ve modified those because the original cars were in really bad shape.”

The production team occasionally used more than one vehicle, which means that what we saw on screen definitely didn’t match the vehicle that ended up on the road.

This explains the long list of problems with the Voyager.

The body kit was damaged, the windshield wiper and drive belt were entirely missing, and both the engine and radiator were plagued with leaks.

Eventually, he ended up getting it fixed up.

He eventually ended up gifting the car to his pal, Tyler Hoover of Hoovies Garage.

Key features of the Pimp My Ride minivan

Jewelry station: A dedicated workspace inside the vehicle for arts and crafts

Interior: Custom wraparound denim couch

Exterior: Pink and purple color scheme with custom graphics

Entertainment system: Laser light show, triple drop-down TV screens and a speaker system

The CarMax appraisal will leave you stunned

Hoover took it in for an appraisal with CarMax to see how much it’d be worth.

With 130,000 miles on the clock and a few decades on it, this car wasn’t looking like a winner when it came to an appraisal.

But what Hoover surprised him, as he was offered $1,500.

However, as he explained in the video, the Pimp My Ride factor may be the reason why this vehicle isn’t a total write-off yet.
