The Plymouth Superbird is one of the most mythologized and important cars in American history.
It reminds us of the golden age of motoring and, for one owner in particular, it has become a lifelong companion after a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy one years ago.
It all started when she read an article in the newspaper that mentioned the Plymouth Superbird’s top speed.
That sealed the deal, and she immediately bought one.

Most people may buy a cool t-shirt on a whim, or maybe a watch, or maybe even a three-day trip to Vegas – but generally not a car.
But Janice wanted a Superbird.
She was sold on the advertised top speed, but also on the Limelight Green color that she’d seen in the ad.
Janice’s car was purchased from H.L. Harris in Pittsburg, California, a well-known dealer of Mopar muscle cars.
Since then, her love for this special Plymouth Superbird has never faded, and she has driven her beloved car ever since.
She really has driven it hard, considering she marked one of those impressive mileage milestones by putting 80,000 miles under its tires in about 15 years.
However, it’s a man called Irving Gordon who holds the Guinness World Record for the highest mileage on a personal car.
His 1966 Volvo 1800S has over 3,000,000 miles (4,828,032km) on its odometer.
That really puts the ‘miles’ into ‘milestone’, doesn’t it?
This Superbird isn’t going anywhere
Janice still drives her Superbird, and she still loves it.
Janice has lovingly restored it three times to keep it in perfect shape.
Despite that extensive use, this Plymouth Superbird isn’t going anywhere.
It’s a classic, and it’s in perfect condition, so there’s no reason to get rid of it.
